This week our school Board Education Committee visited TFA (Telstar Freshman Academy) on Tuesday for a tour and to see the program in action. Committee members were able to see Ms. Dole's science class where they were working on Rube Goldberg designs and Mr. Bennett's ELA class where they were doing research and working on paraphrasing without copy/pasting. Also that day, we were not able to catch up with the Outdoor Leadership students who were in their canoes going through the obstacle course. Later in the week two Board members, Ms. Herbeck and Ms. Cooley joined in for Rube Goldberg relays with the students. The staff and students were very pleased to have the guests and to show off what they were doing in their classes.

Here are this year's Homecoming Dress Up Days at THS!

On Friday (10/17), the FBLA club is having a Bake Sale. They will be set up in the Booster's room outside of the gym/cafeteria on and off throughout the day; during satellite, 7-peaks, lunch, and dismissal. They will also have a table on Saturday at the Homecoming games.

Maine Loves Public Schools has been working on a campaign since last year to produce videos from schools around the state highlighting unique and successful programming for our students. The Telstar Freshman Academy (TFA) was selected as one of the spotlights. Filming took place last spring and we have now gotten a preview to share with our community. This video helps to highlight some of the unique qualities of the program and what it offers to our students. We are very proud of how the video and program have turned out after 10 years of being in place.
TFA Video
All Season 1 episodes (including TFA) will be aired on Maine Public Broadcasting on Thursday, November 6th at 8pm (and 11/7 at 2pm).
Please enjoy!

Each fall, Telstar Freshman Academy (TFA) students take on the canoeing unit in their Outdoor Leadership class. During this unit, students learn to precisely control their canoes on both flatwater and moving water.
One of the highlights of the unit is a capstone paddle down the Androscoggin River. This year, due to drought conditions, students navigated a section of the river from Bethel to Newry, where they were able to put their new paddling skills to the test — even running a few small rapids!
At TFA, we believe in hands-on, experiential learning that connects lessons to the real world.

The Telstar Athletics Department would like to thank Telstar alumni Austin Westleigh and Asa Milot from Countryside Landscaping for their donation of water bottles for our athletes!

The 2025-2026 full Bus Routes are now uploaded to the sad44.org website. On Friday you should have received an individual email out lining your students pick up and drop off times. We are working with Ridesource this year and new software called Bus Right for all of our routing needs.
To find the routes, go to the menu page of the sad44 page, then click on TRANSPORTATION, then scroll down to Bus Schedules. You will find a section for AM runs and PM runs separate. Route numbers match the email you received on Friday and in there you will see the assigned bus driver's name and bus number as well.
We will update the routes after the first week as drivers and families get used to the timings and see who is and who is not riding on a regular basis. Please bear with us as we work to adjust and make them as accurate as possible. In two weeks you will get an email describing how to download and access a parent app where you can track your child's routes/times, etc on a daily basis.
Thank you.

Your option to participate or not is completely up to you, but we wanted you to know this is not a scam and something that Telstar High School is trying for 2025-2026 starting with the fall sports schedules. Thank you!
