MSAD #44 is partnering with Tooth Protectors Inc to offer Preventative Dental Care at school.
Tooth Protectors has a school-based program where they travel into schools providing preventative dental care to grades Pre-K to 12th grade. They are a Maine based organization, with a team of insured, licensed, fingerprinted, registered, PHS (Public Health Status) dental hygienists. Their team travels throughout the state with portable equipment providing much needed preventative dental hygiene care.
They accept MaineCare and other private dental insurances. They also offer a cash pay option if needed. Tooth Protectors offer the following services:
Oral assessments
Educational oral hygiene instructions
Dental Cleanings
Fluoride Treatments
Sealants of baby and adult molars and pre molars
Temporary fillings
Nutritional counseling
Referrals
You will have the opportunity to select which services you would like your child to receive when completing the permission form.
For elementary school students signed up for fluoride varnish: Unfortunately the Maine School Oral Health Program (SOHP) is unable to find a dental hygienist to come to our schools to apply the fluoride varnish this fall/winter. Tooth protectors can offer fluoride varnish, but unlike SOHP this is not a free service. If you do not have dental insurance the varnish would cost $35. It is uncertain if SOHP will be able to provide free fluoride varnishes this spring. |
If you are interested in signing your child up for our winter clinic- please complete this FORM. You will be directed to complete the Tooth Protectors registration form as well. Please let us know if you would prefer a paper copy be sent home.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
