Woodstock Elementary School is a K-5 school located on Rumford Ave. just outside the village of Bryant Pond, Maine.  The school was completed in 1987 and students and staff were moved from the old Woodstock High School building. The building is well maintained by staff and students and looks as welcoming as it did when it was new.

We have a population of about 80 students, with one classroom for each grade.  Our school is fortunate to have wonderful class sizes right now after having some years with very large class sizes.  We have a special education and Title-one program housed in our building; we share our specialist teachers with the other two elementary school in SAD#44.

We are very proud of the emphasis we put on good character at our school.

We work toward the goals of Teaching Responsibility.  Our students are well versed in the core values of Respect, Honesty, Compassion, Fairness, Responsibility, Courage, Kindness and Helpfulness.  Each week we honor a student in each class for demonstrating these values. In our small school, we are very much like a family.  We hope that the caring and concern shown among family members extends throughout our school day.

We are very lucky to have an extremely supportive community.  Our Woodstock P.T.A. is very active and supports our students and staff in countless ways, including raising money for and installing a beautiful new playground.  We also have many volunteers in our school everyday working in classrooms, on the yearbook, with our ski program, and many other ways.

Academically, we continue to make strides forward.  The staff is dedicated to helping our students meet and exceed standards.  The staff works hard as a team, looking at teaching techniques and individual student’s needs. We are a small staff, but one which is dedicated to continue our own learning.  More than half of our staff has earned their Masters Degree or are presently enrolled in a Masters program. Our students definitely benefit from this, as they are being taught with the most recently researched teaching techniques.

Our school has an active sports program.  We have soccer, basketball, and Nordic skiing for grades K-5.  We have an alpine ski program at nearby Sunday River Ski Resort for grades 3-5.  We have spring softball for grade 4 and 5.
