STUDENTS

Student Circulation Policies:  Students may take out a total of 3 fiction books (or a total of 5 items when doing research).  The circulation period is 3 weeks.  After the three week period the library will issue a late notice.  At the end of each quarter overdue books will be billed.  Student report cards and progress reports may be held until the material is returned or paid in full.  Students who owe materials to the library will not be allowed to take more items out of the library.

Student Use:  Three students from any individual classroom can be sent to the library without having made prior arrangements.  It is best to notify the library first if computers are needed.  This will help eliminate unnecessary trips to the library.

High School Study Halls:  4 students from each study hall may come to the library. Students will be asked to go back to study hall who are not using their time wisely.

Sign In:  All students must sign in upon entering the library.

TEACHERS

Circulation Policies:  Teachers must check out all books and materials at the circulation desk.  Faculty and staff do not have a time limit on loan of materials, but return them as soon as they are finished using them.  When a librarian is not available to check the materials out, teachers are not allowed to take materials.

Whole Class Instruction:  Mrs. Fraser is available for book talks, instruction on using the library and materials, or instruction on research available within the Telstar library collection.  She is available for collaboration on any type of assignment or unit.

Class Use:  Please schedule classes for library use in advance so we can better serve our students.

Passes:  An individual teacher can send 3 students to the library at a time without prior arrangements.  A substitute teacher cannot send students to the library without prior arrangements made by the teacher.

Reserved Materials:  Teachers can reserve materials if they request it one week in advance.  This request must include which materials are to be reserved, for how long, and whether the students can check the materials out.  Reserved materials are placed on reserve shelves at or near the circulation desk.

Audio-Visual Equipment:  All audio-visual requests must be made to Kelley Fraser.

Faculty Library:  There are professional journals, books, and periodicals for your use.
